Question: A friend of mine asked me to be a part of her wedding last year to hand out programs...except she didn't ask me, she assumed I'd be taking the role. I agreed to, regardless of her rudeness. Now being a year later, her wedding is only 3 months away and I received a wedding dress code: plain black dress, knee length, no empire waist, no embellishments and silver ballet flats. On the back she wrote my duties to be a cake server. Even though I agreed to programs, I would be happy to serve cake...but is it really necessary to have such a selective dress code if I am only a small part of the wedding? I already had a beautiful black dress and black peep toe pumps that are very elegant but do not meet her hideous requirements. I realize it is the brides day, but my husband is the best man, and at 24, I do not want to be dressed like the other two cake servers who are early teens. Is she asking too much, or am I? How do I handle this situation?
