Question: My stepmom wants to accompany my mother and I when we go shopping for my bridal gown. There's really no nice way to tell her this but I don't want her there. This is a special moment for my mom and me. Stepmom is loud, opinionated, and always has to be right. I know she'll get offended if I don't take her suggestions. She brags about getting along with my mom, but truthfully my mom just puts up with stepmom's bossiness and never stands up for herself against her. How do I tell stepmom that she's not invited to help me pick out my gown without causing a huge family argument? She's got a daughter so she'll be the Mother of the Bride someday. I really don't see the need for her to intrude in my mom and my special time.
