Subject: My finacee and I chose to have
Question: My finacee and I chose to have 8 women in our wedding party - 4 on my side, 4 on his. All have happily agreed to participate. Unfortunately, my parents are more upset over this decision than anything I've ever seen. They are upset for two reasons: 1)since we are having all women we chose not to have my brother in it - we thought he'd feel awkward. He doesn't care if he's in the wedding, and 2)they think it will look "homosexual" to have only women. They are worried what other people will think about them. I am deeply hurt to learn that my parents are so homophobic and that they care more about what their friends think of them than what their own daughter thinks of them. They want to add my brother and three other men to the bridal party so that "the pictures look better". I am at a loss. We have expressed very clearly what we want and why. They are paying for the wedding. Should we add the extra people we don't want? Should we let my parents pick our wedding party for us? Is this a battle worth fighting?
