Question: I am getting married and in the process of planning. My fiancée and I want to have a destination wedding that includes our parents, my children and our best friend's as the witnesses. My mom has now told me that they are upset that my friends are being witnesses and not my sister (who cannot afford to go). They said they do not want to go because of it and also, it is a huge expense for them that they are not happy to pay. My mother said my famiy was hurt that we were not having the wedding here and including them. She told me that she wanted us to have our wedding where we live and just take a nice honeymoon. I do not want to hurt or upset anyone and understand where they are coming from, but feel it's our day and ultimately we should decide. Is our destination wedding really worth the upset it will cause to so many people?
