QUESTION

Subject: disrespectful bride
Question: My nephew is getting married. I could not attend the shower because my son had plans on the same day & the shower was out of state. I sent a gift. The bride called me up to tell me how hurt she was that I didn't attend & how she will have to think about if we are still invited to the wedding. My mother (grooms grandmother) could not attend the shower either because she is 90 years old and in a nursing home, and the bride wanted me to cancel my son's plans, drive to another state, pick up my mother and bring her so it would not look "bad" to her relatives. We haven't gotten a thank you for a very nice shower gift, adn have not heard anything from them. I would have never called someone who did not come to my shower--especially an older family member. I think this is a huge sign of disrespect, and I don't feel like going to the wedding now.
