QUESTION

Subject: We'll be "running away" to get
Question: We'll be "running away" to get married, either to Jamaica or to Key West, but we would like to announce our marriage after the fact and perhaps even host a follow-up reception for frinds and family. What, if any, is the etiquette for such an occasion? For example, what do we call it? A reception? A party? Should we invite relatives and friends who live far away? Are guests expected to send/bring gifts? Should we say "No gifts" on the invitation since there's really no wedding to attend (and because it's a second marriage for both of us)? Can we/should we make it an informal affair (which means I can't wear the wedding dress I just bought)? Or can I wear the dress even if the party doesn't immediately follow a ceremony? A lot of questions, I know, but I don't want to offend anyone, nor do I want the occasion to be taken lightly...any help?
