Question: My son and his fiancee are planning to be married in Key West in October or November of 2007. Our family is from Pennsylvania, and the bride's family is from New Orleans. They have limited funds, and are trying to keep the wedding to 50 people. On our side, there are a lot of family members and friends who would be invited and most likley attend, if the wedding were close to home. Since it is not, and my son is limited to how many he can invite, should I verbally ask each person if they feel they would want to attend the wedding in Key West, so I can get a list of who would definately come before sending out the wedding invitations? Also, I am planning on having an open house/informal (picnic) type reception the following summer for all those that could not attend the wedding. What is the proper way of sending those invitations? Do I send them before or after the wedding? What about a shower?
