QUESTION
From: Wedding Palace Visitor
Subject:
Question: As an only child my dad and I have been very close whilst growing up. Mum and Dad split when I was 4 years old. Mum moved on and started seeing someone else. Dad never re married as he was still in love with my mum. I am now 25 so 20 years later he still hasnt moved on. My dad has told me he wouldnt come to my wedding if my mums partner came. He also says horrible things like he would want to kill my mums partner. My dad is very suicidal as well so I would hate to think what might happen if I make the wrong decision. I just dont know where to draw the line with him. Should I stand my ground or should I just not invite mums partner to keep the peace. I just keep thinking of the next major family event... Dad will say the same thing over and over and I know he shouldnt be doing this... He basicly black mailing me. I just dont want this to ruin my wedding day. However I want to make him happy too. Dad has been seeing a phyciologist for 20 something years and he still wont get over my mum. Neither of my Mum or Dad are in a financial position to help with the wedding. My future parents in law have been able to help pay for our wedding. Help? What do you suggest?
