Question: A business colleague told me about a New Orleans wedding tradition called a Faedo (I must be spelling it wrong because I can't find any info on the web about it.) Evidentally, this is where the friends of the bride's parents are all invited to bake a normal sized cake for the reception instead of buying a gift. You can specify to them what type of color, etc. it should be. Then the cakes are displayed on random-height stands, so as to create a same-but-different effect. Sounds neat, but I can't find anything about it anywhere! Does this exist? Is it rude to ask the guests to do that? I think it would be fun and save us money. I appreciate any help I can get.
