QUESTION
From: Wedding Palace Visitor
Subject:
Question: Why is it not proper etiquette on a wedding program to put father and stepmother of the bride? I saw an earlier post where it was said that was breaching etiquette. I don't really understand that. I do not want to list my stepmother under parents of the bride cause she's not my parent. She married my dad when I was 17. I'd like her name to be in the wedding program but I don't want to ackwoledge her as a parent. I feel only my mom and dad should receive that honor. Why is listing her as stepmother of the bride being rude? After all she is my stepmother and is not my parent. By saying stepmother I am just saying exactly how she is related to me. I just would find it strange to list my stepmother under parents of the bride when she didn't have a part in raising me.
