RESPONSE
From: Tooman
Response: Hello Kelli, It is very common to serve sheet cakes in addtion to the wedding cake when there are a large number of guests. If you are the person making the cake, you should make the cake in whatever flavor combination the bride chooses. It can be the same as one of the tiers of the wedding cake or it can be different. It should definitely not be served from a pan. You would use a half sheet cake pan to bake the cake, then transfer it to a cake board. Ice it with the same icing you are using on the wedding cake. The cake will be kept in the kitchen or another area out of sight. It is often cut and served before the wedding cake. If this is your first time baking a wedding cake, be sure that you give the couple a box for the top layer and that you provide a box or bag for all of the pieces and parts that need to be returned to you, including cake boards, pillars, etc.
