RESPONSE
From: Tooman
Response: When you have a bar and allow the guests to pour their own drinks, then it is an open bar. I would be extremely careful about doing this, however, because you assume all of the liability for your guests and how much they drink and how they act.

You will also need to check with the location where you are holding the wedding to be certain that they will allow you to do this. Many locations require that you have a bartender or that you hire a bar catering business because they can also be sued if something goes wrong.
