RESPONSE
From: Tooman
Response: A wedding reception is not a time for fun and games and shower-type activities. Many couples choose not to dance at their receptions, either because of the time of day of the wedding or the cost of hiring music.

When you dont have dancing, guests will stay less time than if you did. However, if you schedule your wedding for mid-afternoon or late morning, most people dont expect to dance much at those times. You would serve food and allow the guests to mingle. The only planned activities would be the cake cutting and bouquet and garter toss if you choose to do them.
