RESPONSE
From: Hansen, CWP
Response: The Origin of the Grooms cake is a tradition that came from England and Ireland. Traditinally the grooms cake was a fruit cake
with white icing and was served with the couples wedding cake.
The grooms cake was once called the actual wedding cake. The couple would take home slices of this cake and the brides husband would reveal himself in her dreams.
Today the grooms cake is set aside from the actual wedding cake most couples put their intials on top of the cake and it is a chocolate cake. One layer and usually used to satisfy the guests need for chocolate.
The grooms cake was said to bring Fertility to the couple!!! The grooms cake is also supposed to be a gift from the bride to the groom.
Best Wishes,
Patty Hansen, CWP
