RESPONSE
From: Tooman
Response: A generation or two ago, the parents of the bride and groom divided up the costs of the wedding. Today that is no longer true. The only thing that the parents of the groom are still traditionally responsible for is the rehearsal dinner. The bride and groom are responsible for the costs of their wedding. However, if either set of parents wants to help, they may volunteer to do so. You can give the couple a sum of money to be spent as they need or you can offer to pay for certain things, like photography or music or flowers. What you do is entirely up to you. Just let the couple know so that they know how to plan.
