RESPONSE
From: Tooman
Response: Hello Crystal, No; etiquette recommends that the mother of the bride choose her dress first. She then tells the MOG the style and color of her dress and the MOG chooses a dress that is not fancier than the MOBs, but rather of a similar level of formality and in a coordinating color. The exception would be if the MOB chooses a dress that is inappropriate for the formality, time of day, and location of the wedding. For instance, if she wears an evening gown to an afternoon wedding, she would be overdressed and you would not want to do the same. Similarly, if she appears at a formal evening wedding wearing a casual sundress, you would not want to do the same.
