RESPONSE
From: Tooman
Response: Hi Kathleen, Your friend is definitely going to extremes. She should be telling only the bridesmaids how to dress. I do understand that if the other servers are teenagers, their idea of appropriate dress may not be what is considered socially proper, but at 24 you should not be expected to dress like them, nor should you be treated like them. The silver ballet shoes are inappropriate with any color dress other than silver, so would not be appropriate with a black dress for any of you, though teens might get away with wearing them. Your friend will be so focused on the wedding day that she will most likely not even notice what you wear. I would wear what you plan to and not worry about it.

On another note, if the other cake helpers are young teens, you may be doing most of the cutting and serving yourself, so be sure to bring latex gloves with you.
