RESPONSE
From: Tooman
Response: Hello Alisha, Because you are not getting married for over a year, you dont have to tell everyone immediately. First, you need to tell your families, his and yours, parents and siblings. Then, you can be certain that moms and sisters will tell others. You can also tell others when you talk with them.

Your parents can also place your engagement announcement in your local newspaper. That serves two purposes, the first, announcing the engagement. And the second, letting people know that your parents approve of your choice of husband.

You can also send out Christmas cards to aunts, uncles and friends. You might enclose a photo of the two of you. That tends to build excitement and anticipation.

If you prefer to do something less personal, after the first of the year you can send out save the date cards to out of town family and friends. The cards will contain your names, the wedding date and a statement that more information will follow. That way, anyone who might want to travel for the wedding can begin saving and making plans.
