RESPONSE
From: Tooman
Response: Hello Jessica, As hosts of the dinner, your in-laws get to make all the decisions. You and your fiance are the guests of honor, so you get to enjoy the opportunity to allow someone else to handle all the details while you relax and enjoy the evening. They might choose a restaurant meal, a pizza party, a BBQ or picnic, or something else - the decision is theirs.

As a side note, dates and children of the members of the wedding party did not need to be invited to dinner, only spouses and fiances/fiancees. Your in-laws are kind to include the additional people.
