Response: You are right; this is a huge sign of disrespect and the bride is clearly indicating that it was more about gifts and looking good than celebrating with family and friends. First, out of town relatives, other than mothers, are not usually invited to a shower because of the inconvenience involved. Second, the shower host sends the invitations and interacts with the guests before the shower, not the bride. Dont be surprised to have additional issues arise with this woman. You might give her a book on etiquette for a wedding gift :
