RESPONSE
From: Tooman
Response: There is no specific age that one must be to become engaged. It will depend on your situation. Generally, a couple become formally engaged a few months before they plan to marry. However, they may have had 'an understanding' for months or years before they are in a position to actually become engaged and plan a wedding. If you are young and still living at home, then you will need to consider what your parents might say if you become engaged. Will they feel that you are too young to marry? Will they question your fiances ability to support you? There are many issues that affect the age at which one is ready - emotionally and maturity-wise - to consider marriage.
