RESPONSE
From: Tooman
Response: Most newspapers have a policy for announcing engagements and you may have to pay for the announcement. Check to see if your newspaper has a web site. If they do, the policy and the form that you need to fill out and submit may be on it. If they arent, then call the paper and ask to speak with the Features editor.

My local paper requires that announcements be received at least 60 days before the wedding, then they are held until space is available to publish them. There is no upper time limit, so an announcement can be sent a year or more before the wedding. I understand that some newspapers require that the wedding occur within 6 months of publishing the announcement.

Some newspapers announce engagements for free, others charge. My paper charges about $45 if no pictures is included and over $80 if a photo accompanies the announcement.
