RESPONSE
From: Tooman
Response: Your sister is not responsible for the lodging or transportation costs of those who are in her wedding party or of her guests. Your mother made a mistake when she indicated that your sister should pay for out of town guests. If your sister can afford to pay or has friends with whom people can stay, that would be an extra benefit.

When a person agrees to be in a wedding, they agree to all of the costs involved, including clothing, transportation, and lodging. When guests are invited, they decide whether or not they can afford to attend and then they pay accordingly.

It would be courteous of your sister to block rooms at a reduced rate at a hotel or hotels in the area and let you know how to contact the hotel toll-free number, etc., but again, this is a courtesy and not a requirement.
