Response: I agree with Gail. Usually, you reserve tables for the wedding party and for the parents, then the other guests can sit where they want. Even when we have large weddings and use place cards, we assign only the table, not the individual seats at the tables. That is way too much work and confusion reigns when people cancel at the last minute. If you serve a choice of entree, then you place some type of code on the place card so that the servers know who gets the fish and who gets the chicken.
