RESPONSE
From: Tooman
Response: This is your decision. You dont have to attend either event if you choose not to. If you go to the shower, you should bring a gift. The gift can be a combination shower and wedding gift if you prefer.

Because the wedding is out of the country, it is not a good idea to take a gift to the wedding, since the bride and groom will have to deal with Customs and perhaps pay Duty to bring the items back into the country. Therefore, it is better to give the wedding gift either before the wedding or after the couple return. If you would like to do something for them that is memorable, yet doesnt cost a great deal, you might take pictures while you are at the wedding. Take them the days before and after the wedding, as well as on the wedding day, then place the photos in an album and give it to the couple as their wedding gift. They will be thrilled to see all of the activities captured for posterity.
