Response: The event in NY is a different one, so a separate invitation should be sent for it. Because the wedding is several months away, you might send out save the date cards now. On the card, you can say something like:
Bride and Groom will be married on,,,, in ,,,,. A reception will also be held in NY after the wedding.

That way, guests know about all of the events. Then, when they receive the wedding invitation they can RSVP that they will will or will not attend and they can instead plan to attend the NY reception when that invitation arrives.
