RESPONSE
From: Tooman
Response: According to etiquette, guests do indeed have up to a year to give a gift if they choose to give one at all. This is not new, but quite old. Guests are not obligated to bring a gift to a wedding at all, though most do.

There can be a number of reasons why guests wouldnt bring a gift. They may have ordered something and it is being shipped directly by the retailer to the couples home; something may have been ordered and didnt arrive in time; someone is making something special for the couple and it isnt finished, etc. It is interesting, however, that nearly half of the guests didnt bring a gift and used the same reason. Perhaps it was a small wedding with few guests.
