RESPONSE
From: Tooman
Response: Hello Cindy, Your friend is correct that the bride and groom should not mention gifts at all and gifts are not usually given for a convalidation ceremony. If someone were to ask them what they need, they should tell the person that gifts are not expected then let the person decide what they want to do.

From and etiquette standpoint, they were wrong to register for gifts after they were married and they should not have had a shower. A reception would have been fine, but showers are held before the wedding, not after.
